ENGLISH II
Tenth grade is a time for all students to build on the foundation they established during their freshman year. Every student in English II is engaged in learning opportunities and instruction that will allow him or her to meet or exceed high standards. Students will learn to inquire, talk, read, write, think, and investigate as readers and writers about the big ideas and driving questions in English Language Arts. My goal is to support students in becoming independent, strategic, critical readers, writers, listeners, and speakers who communicate effectively in various forms, for various purposes, and for various audiences.
PAP ENGLISH II
Pre-AP English II is a course designed to prepare the highly capable and committed English student for entry into the Advanced Placement English program at the junior or senior level. Assigned reading for this course focuses on classic and contemporary multicultural fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and drama. The demonstration of analytical and critical thinking will be emphasized and assessed through discussion, the multi-paragraph essay, vocabulary development and speaking opportunities.
YEARBOOK
The yearbook course offers students total involvement in the production of the Lake Dallas High School yearbook. This year's theme is "SO...WHAT'S YOUR POINT?". Responsibilities include advertising, layout planning, photography, copy writing, and proofing. Yearbook students will master advanced layout and design of desktop publishing, digital imagery, and photo placement. Students will plan a yearbook ladder, complete various spreads and assignments, copy edit, and produce a full-color yearbook for LDHS.
