    CASEY HARL

Biography for Mr. Harl

Personal:

My name is Mr. Harl. I was born in Corpus Christi, TX and graduated from George West High school, which was larger that the other two high schools in the county combined. I played basketball and was involved in numerous honors societies. Of the 69 in my graduating class, five of us went to Texas A&M University, where I graduated with a degree in Computer Science and a minor in Mathematics. While attending TAMU, I participated in intramural basketball, joined several honors societies, and had the opportunity to spend 3.5 months studying in Castiglion Fiorentino, Italy where I gained an appreciation for the arts and other cultures.

I received my Masters in Secondary Education with a focus on mathematics instruction from the University of North Texas in May of 2010.

I have been married for over 16 years, and I have three daughters aged 8, 9, and 11.

Professional

After graduation from Texas A&M, I went to work for a Fortune 500 Chemical Manufacturing company here in Dallas. I spent 14 years in Information Technology, 7 as a technical analyst and 7 in various management roles. At the end of 2005, I decided I wanted to make a difference more than a dollar, so I decided to become a teacher. I have been teaching 8th grade math in Lake Dallas for 5 years, and I have realized that I truly have found my calling in life! I *love* it!!

I learned many very important lessons during my years in corporate America and teaching last year, and I am looking forward to teaching some of them to you as we study math this year!

Future

My goal in life is to be the best father and husband that I can possibly be for my children and wife.

I expect every student in my classes to pass the class and make commended on state standardized tests. BUT, and far more importantly, my goal is that each of you will begin to define your dream, determine what you really want to do with this gift of life you have been given, and understand that you can make it happen!

I care about this deeply, and I will do as much as I possibly can in order to help you achieve your dream. I have an open door policy whereby you can come in and talk to me (NOT during class time!! *grin*) and I will listen to you without judging. Let’s have a GREAT year, shall we?
