    DARCI BLEWETT
Everyone needs math!!!
Welcome to Mrs. Blewett's Math Class
I would like to welcome all of you to the Middle School.
This will be a year of learning many new things and making new friendships.

Let me tell you a few things about myself. I have been teaching in Lake Dallas for eleven years. I taught 5th grade math for five years and am in my seventh year teaching 6th grade math.

I am married and have three children. My oldest child graduated from Texas A&M University and is married and
is expecting her second child
in September. My middle child is in her Senior year at the University of North Texas in Denton. My third child is in his Junior year at Texas A&M University. He is also in the Corp of Cadets.

3-Ring Binder
Please check your student's binder each night to ensure that the homework has been done. The assignment should be written on the homework, and the homework should be in the binder either finished or needing to be finished.

Homework
My students will be given a homework assignment each day. I will allow time in class
for them to work and ask questions, but any unfinished work will be due at the beginning
of class the next day.

If your student doesn't know the math facts 2 - 12, please study them a few minutes each night. A good way to do this is with flash cards which can be purchased at Walmart or just writing them on paper. Math facts are a vital part of 6th grade math.
Tutorials
Tutorial buses will start running Tuesday,Sept. 6. I will be having tutorials on Tuesday, and Thursday afternoons from 4:00 to 4:30, starting September 6th. Your student may also come in the morning from 8:00 - 8:30 to ask any questions or finish a couple of problems. If your child needs to stay for tutorials, he/she will call and let you know. Your student may ride the tutorial bus or you may come and pick them up at 4:30.
Grading
Papers that receive a 69 or below on homework or a quiz, need to be corrected for a 70. Please make corrections on a separate sheet of paper. Staple the corrections to the original paper when it is turned in to me. Do not erase anything on the original paper.

Tests may also be corrected. Any test that is a 74 or below may be corrected in tutorials for a higher grade. No test will be able to be taken home, so corrections will only be allowed in tutorials which are Tuesday, or Thursday from 4:00 - 4:30 or in the mornings from 8:00 - 8:30.
Field Trip
The 6th grade will be going to the Cowboys Stadium in May
