Topic this week is Problem Solving
How to deal with problems, seeking help, talking and compromise.
Act. problem to solve of man with goat, cabbage and wolf.
Mrs. Hainlin will come Thursday to read a story and do an activity together with students.
September 12-16
Students will be working on "special interests"
Discussion on what their special interest is and how they might use that to get into college or find a job in the future.
1.talk with others who are expert on subject.
Learn how to talk about your interest
3. build a career plan around your interest
Ex. world famous woman with autism, Dr. Temple Grandin who is an expert on humane cattle management. she even advises McDonalds.
Students also journaled on subject.
We had a classroom scavenger hunt. Students had to get up and find things in the room including talking with other students and/or teachers for the information on the list.
September 19-23rd
This week the topic will begin with introducing yourself to others. Students will discuss why make introductions, how when and where they may be needed. They will also take turns in role play using what they learn.

9/26-9-30 This weeks topic will be -PERSPECTIVE TAKING-
social thinking is what we do when interacting with people. We will talk about points of view, emotions, reading emotions and intentions of others.
I will show the video "Mighty" sometime this week.
This is a movie about a 13 year old boy named Kevin who is disabled and another teen named Max. Both boys have problems that label them outcasts. together they discover they can unite and overcome their individual limitations.
Beginning next week on Wednesdays, we will begin an advocacy unit. Ms McGowan will come and work with the class on those days.

Students will be looking at Listening Skills this week.
we will do an activity on listening and brainstorm ideas that will help them to become better listeners.
