Being a member of the Lake Dallas Middle School Cross Country Team is a rewarding and enjoyable experience, but one that must not be taken for granted. In order to ensure fairness on the team, and to avoid future quarrels, it is a requirement of all team members and parents to read and sign the following rules and contract.

Rules:

1. Failure to attend practice may result in that athlete's not being able to run in the competition that follows (excused absences will be reviewed on a case by case basis). Attendance will be taken daily. Each athlete is required to attend 5 practices each week.

2. An injured athlete is still required to attend practice, even if he/she is unable to run. He/She is expected to join the team in meeting and assist the coach in whatever way possible.

3. All team members are expected to treat each other with courtesy and respect.

4. All team members are expected to treat the coach with courtesy and respect.

5. The A-team is generally composed of the seven fastest runners, but is ultimately comprised of those athletes that the coach chooses. The B-team does not require a limit on the number of participants.

6. All athletes are required to travel to and back from meet with the team.

7. Cross Country is a team sport, and therefore any athlete expecting to make the team must commit to compete in the following meets:

Times: Between 4:00 – 6:00pm or until it gets dark.

• January 26th (Wednesday) – Pre-Season Meet Northlake Park – Denton
• February 2nd (Wed.) – Northlake Park – Denton
• February 9th (Wed.) – Westlake Park – Lake Dallas
• February 16th (Wed.) – District Meet @ Northlake Park - Denton

8. The coach reserves the right to ask any athlete to leave the team if he or she is not in compliance with the rules.

9. Every Athlete is expected to comply with all school rules and abide by the Code of Conduct.

10. Every Athlete will be require by the coach to maintain a grade of 70 in all of their classes and will allow the coach to communicate with their teachers and parent/guardians to ensure that are passing.
The above rule is subject to the judgment of the coach. The coach will consider exceptional circumstances and emergencies.

Distances: Races will be run in the following order:

7th girls (A & B) 1 mile run

7th boys & 8th girls (A & B) 1.5 miles run

8th boys (A & B) 2 miles run
