Our Children are our future!
FERNANDO NATIVIDAD--Associate Principal
EDUCATION:
Master of Science, Dec 2000
University of North Texas, Denton, TX

Master of Public Administration, Dec 1999
University of North Texas, Denton, TX

Bachelor of Science, May 1994
State University of Coahuila, Saltillo, Mexico
BACKGROUND:
I was born and raised in Mexico and I always believed that I would spend all my life there. However, in 1997, while I was working for the state government, I was fortunate to win the “Best Young Employee of the State Award” which granted me a full scholarship to get a Master’s Degree in the United States.

My wife and I moved to Denton Texas in 1997 to attend school and we have been here since. My wife is also an educator and she is currently the Assistant Principal of one of the elementary schools in Lewisville, TX.

We have two children, our daughter is almost 13 and our son is 8. I came from a LARGE family. I have 4 older brothers and 4 older sisters and almost 30 nieces and nephews about 50 cousins etc. Yes most of them live in Mexico, in the same city actually!
PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION:
Education is a process by which every student or individual GROWS! I believe every student has areas of strengths and that it is our responsibility as educators to not only identify those strengths but to help students excel on those strengths; every individual is very good at something and everyone has the right to succeed!
EXPERIENCE:
I started teaching in the year 2000 at Ryan High School. I taught both ESL and Regular Classes from 2000 to 2003. My subjects were Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, and Algebra 3. I also taught Economics. I was teacher rookie of the year and teacher of the year runner up twice. I loved being in the classroom!

Those three years in the classroom were very fun and rewarding! Our ESL students got 94% passing rate in TAAS the first year and 100% the next two years. We developed an accelerated math program in which students who did not take Algebra in Middle School were able to finish high school with Calculus. Our classes were in the newspaper three times and even on TV as channel 5 decided that it was important to recognize our student’s success.

During my fourth year I started my career as administrator at Ryan and served as Assistant Principal for five years. Then I had the opportunity to work at the Elementary level for two years. It was an amazing feeling to be able to lead a school and work with the little ones but when the opportunity presented itself to be part of the great Lake Dallas Family I knew exactly where I belonged. I am VERY happy to be here!
