Mrs. Bond's 7th Grade Language Arts
Welcome back to another wonderful school year at LDMS! Be sure to study your Greek/Latin roots and vocabulary list which you will be tested over every Friday. I am available for tutorials every Wednesday and Thursday morning and Tuesday and Thursday afternoon if you need any extra help. We're going to have a great year together!
Agenda (Sept 7-10)
Tuesday - go over Greek/Latin roots and vocabulary words, go over examples of figurative language, read ch. 5-6, problem/solution worksheet
HW - WRITE YOUR OWN SENTENCE USING EACH VOCABULARY WORD - DUE THURSDAY

Wednesday - figurative language quiz, noun worksheet, write for 10 minutes in writing notebooks and share
HW - FINISH VOCABULARY SENTENCES - DUE TOMORROW

Thursday - turn in homework, play review game, read ch. 7,
ch. 5-7 quiz
HW - STUDY FOR THE ROOTS AND VOCABULARY TESTS

Friday - Greek/Latin roots test, vocabulary test, analogy worksheet, drop in the bucket worksheet
This week's vocabulary words:
immortal - living forever
pessimistic - feeling gloomy or hopeless, thinking the worst
barbaric - uncivilized, wild
tragic - disastrous, bringing great harm and suffering
sulk - to mope or pout
compassion - sympathy, pity, concern
mortal - deadly, fatal, a being that will eventually die
recoil - to draw back in fear or disgust
optimistic - hopeful, looking on the bright side
vain - conceited
gargantuan - huge
hoodwink - to trick or deceive
