Background & Basics
I am beginning my second semester at Lake Dallas Middle School after serving as the Dean of Instruction at Lake Dallas High School during the fall semester last year. This will be my 30th year in education; coaching boys' basketball for 25 years. I taught high school economics for 20 of those years and now consider it an "academic hobby."
I have been very impressed with the dedication and teamwork of the staff at LDMS. We are blessed with many dedicated professionals willing to go the extra mile to assure student success. Sixth grade is a transition year for students and their parents. Combining three elementary 5th grade student populations into one 6th grade populations has both social and academic implications. Last year's students also mentioned changing classes and being held responsible for regular homework as the big adjustments. It it my job to assist students, parents and teachers to making this transition successful.
Parents can play a key role in their student's education by monitoring their core teacher's websites (math, language arts, science and history) to remain informed on student expectations and assignments. Student success is best achieved as a collaborative effort between teachers and parents. The staff at LDMS stands ready to facilitate this collaboration.
