*August 22-26, 2011. Welcome to LDMS. This week we will learn our class rules, procedures, and begin selling our PE uniforms.
*August 30-September 3th-Continue and finish selling uniforms. Learn our warm up routine. Begin running five laps in the gym, or 2 laps on the track(we encourage each student to do their best while running, and to really focus on getting into a good breathing rhythm). We will also run/jog/walk the mile for the first time. Begin learning how to play volleyball. We will begin with proper hand placement, and proper hitting technique. We will then pass, set, and serve on our way to playing lead up games and games! Go Falcons!
*Month of September,2011--Play and learn volleyball skills and lead up games. Teach rotation, and how to keep score. Also, we will begin having two cardio days per week(mile run/walk/jog/, dot stations and ladders, or cardio stations). Sportsmanship will be the focus as we play games, and learning how to be a part of a team.
* Remember to wash your hands many times per day!!
*October-2011--Soccer Unit--Basic ball dribbling skills, passing, rules, lead up games, line soccer, team soccer, kick ball.
*November-December--Basketball Unit. We will teach dribbling, passing, defensive slides, and shooting. We will then practice these skills by using various drills, and conclude by playing game.
*January--Welcome back--Rule refreshers, tons of movement games, and pacer test to get students back into shape! Finish up our basketball unit.
*February 2-27--Fitnessgram testing practice, Movement games, Spinal Testing, Boys and Girls Athletics try outs, three way kickball game.
*March 2-6th--Movement Games
*March 9-13--Track/Field Activites
*March 16-20--Spring Break
*March 23-27--Fitnessgram Testing--Pacer test, and push up test.
*March 29-April 9th--Finish *Fitnessgram testing, and begin track and field activities..long jump, triple jump, high jump, different races.
*April--Jump Rope, Hula Hoop Games, mile run/jog/walk, cooperation games, relay races, tennis.
*April 26--30--TEKS Week--Good luck and get plenty of sleep! We will be doing movemnet games/activities on Monday, Thurs, Friday.
